Entry, Sliding Patio & Storm Doors
Your front door takes the most abuse—daily use, direct weather exposure, and security demands. Entry door replacement focuses on durability, a tight seal, and style that fits your home. The door matters, but so does the threshold and weatherstripping.
In older neighborhoods around Toledo and Ann Arbor, we regularly find doors where the hardware works but the seal is shot. Weatherstripping has compressed to nothing. The threshold has a gap where it separated from the sill. Replacing the entire unit—frame, threshold, and door—gives you a fresh start with modern weatherstripping and a properly fitted frame that doesn't leak air.
Sliding Patio Doors
Sliding patio doors move along tracks. When those tracks get worn or clogged, the door doesn't close tightly. Weatherstripping compresses over time. You'll feel a draft along the seam where the panels meet, or cold air at the bottom.
Patio door replacement restores smooth operation and seals the opening properly. New rollers glide easily. Fresh weatherstripping along all four edges creates a tight seal. Modern double-pane or triple-pane options reduce heat transfer through large glass areas.
Storm Doors
Storm doors add a protective layer in front of your entry door. They buffer wind, rain, and temperature swings, which helps your main door last longer. Most include ventilation options—you can open the glass panel for airflow while keeping the screen closed.
Fit is everything. A poorly installed storm door rattles and leaks. When we replace storm doors, we measure precisely, seal the frame to the exterior trim, and adjust the closer so the door shuts firmly without slamming.
Stop Drafts, Balance Room Temperature
Most cold spots or hot spots near doors come from air leakage. Gaps around the frame, worn weatherstripping, or a threshold that doesn't sit flush all let outside air in. That makes rooms uncomfortable and forces your heating or cooling system to run more often.
Here's something we learned over 10,000+ installations: even expensive doors perform poorly when the installation isn't tight. You can have a high-end insulated steel door with a great U-factor, but if the frame isn't shimmed correctly or the weatherstripping isn't adjusted to compress evenly, you'll still get drafts.
Door replacement gives you a new frame that's shimmed and leveled correctly, fresh weatherstripping that compresses evenly, and a threshold designed to seal against the door bottom without gaps. The comfort difference is immediate:

How Door Replacement Works
-
Consultation & Measurement
We start with an in-home visit to measure your door openings and discuss what you're looking for—better insulation, updated style, smoother operation, or all three. We check the existing frame for rot, measure the opening at multiple points (older homes settle, so openings aren't always square), and note any threshold or sill damage.
You'll see material samples, hardware options, and glass choices during this visit.
-
Selection & Proposal
You'll get a detailed proposal that breaks down the door unit, hardware, glass options, and installation scope. If we need to repair the frame or replace a rotted sill, that shows up in the proposal too.We walk through the NFRC label so you understand what the U-factor and air leakage ratings mean. Lower U-factor means better insulation. Lower air leakage (AL) means a tighter seal.
-
Installation & Weatherstrip Tuning
On install day, we remove the old door and inspect the rough opening. If there's damage, we fix it before the new door goes in. The new frame gets shimmed and leveled so the door sits plumb—critical for proper operation and a tight seal.
Weatherstripping gets adjusted during installation, not after. We check compression at all four edges and make sure the threshold seals against the door bottom. Patio doors get track adjustments. Storm doors get closer adjustments.
-
Final Walk-Through & Care
Before we call the job complete, we walk through operation with you. We'll show you how the lock works, how to adjust the closer on a storm door, or how to clean patio door tracks. You'll get care guidelines—how often to clean weatherstripping, when to lubricate hinges, and what to watch for as the door settles.
Warranty paperwork covers the door itself (manufacturer's warranty) and our installation work (Lifetime Workmanship Warranty).

What Vinyl Siding Material Do We Use?
Color runs through the full panel thickness. Small scratches don't expose a different layer underneath. Maintenance stays minimal: hose it down once or twice a year; scrub with a soft brush and mild soap if needed.
Vinyl doesn't add structural strength—it covers and protects what's already there. Your home's sheathing, moisture barriers, and flashing matter more than the siding choice. We address those layers during siding installation services to ensure long‑term performance.
